Did you see the recent post of Jennifer's about Art Deco Chinese Rugs?
It's a great read, and chock-a-block full of information about the beauty and history of this
type of rug.
Anywho, it made me realize that I actually own an Art Deco Chinese Rug!
And I didn't even realize it!
I picked it up from the flea market a while back. I was just smitten with the colors and detail!
It's a fun little addition to Jackie Boy's room.
I'm so happy to know about it now!
Thank you Jennifer!
I just love reading other people's blogs!

I love the use of 'collections' in design.
Such a fun way to showcase things you love!
I have a little collection going of my own...
Ginger jars make me smile!
I especially love the little foo dog details....
What about you?
Do you have any collections that you feature in your home?
Tell me about them! I'd love to hear!

Remember this photo from one of my recent posts about a residential staging job?
Look closely at the yellow and white pillow above (from HomeGoods!) and next see how I used it while staging another home for an entirely different look:
Pow! Doesn't this color combination pack a punch?
If you are familiar with color theory, this color combination is called accented analogic.
I love to test out color combinations on Color Scheme Designer. It's a fun way to look at what colors work together. Here's a sample of the scheme that I doodled with on the site:
I had the homeowner paint the walls Wasabi Green from Benjamin Moore, ( I know, crazy right?) and then for staging, I brought in a purple sofa and loveseat....
...and accented the room with an eggplant and chartreuse rug, and green and yellow accessories!
I carried the color combination into the dining room....but had the walls painted in Concord Ivory from Benjamin Moore
Then moved the combo down to the master bedroom and had the walls painted in Carrington Beige (again, Benjamin Moore)...
Here are a few photos of the space before it was staged for resale.
(NOTE: I've fuzzified the faces of the homeowners to protect their privacy)

And the master bedooom, before:
Staging a home prior to selling can really help you increase your profit margin!
Plus, playing with color is fun!

I thought I'd share this pic of an office in a home that I recently staged.
Here is the before........
While the house is on the market, the homeowner's are living there, so I say, why not enjoy it?
Here's the after.....
I'd like to work in there!

Hey ho! I hope you had a great 4th of July holiday!
Guess what I did?
I made a headboard!
Here it is!!
You may remember the previous headboard was too small! Here's the pic:
I have a new boyfriend too.
His name is 'Skilsaw'
And I'm in love!
This was a completely easy peasy DIY project.
The fabric for the headboard was a painter's dropcloth! Doesn't it look like linen? So
cheap affordable! I added a welt trim of green suede, using some extra fabric that I had in my garage studio -- and using some 1" foam, 2 layers of batting and some cardboard tack strip to attach the welting...
I'm super happy with the results!
So here it is side by side -- one more time.....
Yup. Size matters!
P.S. I've linked up at Serenity Now Weekend Bloggy Reading. Fun!

I recently found the before photo of the chair that I reupholstered for Petie Pie's room....
and I just thought I'd share....
It was a yucky pale yellow velvet, but I just loved the lines of the chair.
I bought it at a local consignment shop.
Anywho, here's the after photo for those of you who missed it!
And yes, I reupholstered it myself -- the fabric is from Premier Prints and is so affordable!
I love cheetah!

Remember the Brady Bunch living room?
(I love that painting on the wall btw!)
Anywho, I recently had the opportunity to stage a house that totally reminded me of the Brady Bunch residence.
Here's the BEFORE view of the living room from the kitchen:
It must be all that rock that reminds me so much of those Brady's!
Here's the room AFTER I staged it:
Seriously, who's looking at the rock fireplace facade now?
The vibrant chairs, the rug and the pillows are from HomeGoods! The sofa is a tried and true staple in my staging inventory picked up for a song somewhere....
My favorite part of the room was this little desk area...
And once again, I did my little trick with books that don't have matching book jackets -- turn them around and the well-loved pages look so much more interesting!
